Hello and welcome to my blog. Together Rosie Stocking and I have made a short film called 'Mind Trap' which shows a dramatised look into scizophrenia and the effects it can have on the sufferer. This blog will cover all of the work which has been done from the start of the coursework, where initial ideas were created and research was conducted, till the end, where the final main and ancilary products are shown and evaluated.

We were able to complete the final edit of our film as planned and uploaded it to youtube yesterday. The film is shown below: Those who have view both this version and the original version said that they preferred this version and that they felt that it flowed better with the new part included. They also said thatit was good that we shorted one scene (The scene in which Lucy is putting on her coat and shoes) and before they felt it lasted to long and dampened the pace of the film. We also feel that this version flows alot better and we are both glad that we produced the extra scene and shot some extra angles, where possible, for other parts of the film.

Due to the initial feedback session being lost we only have one recorded feedback which is shown below and, for the most part, corresponds with what other people we asked said:

Today we went out to film the extra scene we need to ensure that our short film met the time requirements. As mentioned in the last post we planned to shoot during lesson time as it was both at an early time of day and on a school day, ensuring that the playground at the part would be as empty as it could be while maintaining somewhat consistant lighting. The filming in question progressed with any problems and we completed the parts we needed quickly, giving us more time to plan when was the best times to edit to ensure that we would get the film finished in time and to a suitable standard. We are goingn to spend the next week editing whenever we have the free chance to do so and plan to have our film completed by Wednesday 30th March.

After the audience feedback session was that our film was too short. We originally had worries that this would be the case and so had a plan set out and ready just incase. We decided on a part of the film in which extra footage could be put in without runing the flow of the film (this being the part between my character running towards the stairs and reaching the bench) and that we were going to involve the playground at the park we had originallyfilmed at. The only issue would be isuring that the playground was relatively empty as, if it wan't, the children in the shot would ruin our plans so we planned to during school time, when most children would also be in school, early in the morning.

Upon relistening to our radio advert we realised that the ending didn't run as smooth as first thought and so we were hopeing to fix it. However, for reasons we were unable to figure out, the project file for our radio advert had corrupted and we were unable to fix it. Because of this we deicided to re edit the radio advert completely. The new advert can be seen below:

It's the same as the old one but we both feel that it flows better now and is less choppy.

This week our class had an audience feedback session where each of the groups showed their films and people gave feedback on what was good and how it could be improved. The whole session was fillmed for each group to edit out their respective bits to place on their blogs but, unfortunatley, we were unable to find the file and so unable to edit the clip. However, some of the points mentioned are shown below: - Use effects to make Lucas's (the hallucination's) voice stand out more and be more creepy - Make the voice on the other end of the phone call seem more like they are actually on a phone (using effects) - make the ending more a surprised by showing Lucas at a later stage. With these peices of advice in mind we went back to editing our film. We are unable to do much concerning the 3rd point though as it would mean reshooting and the person who played Lucas hads now changed his hair colour and Rosie's living room sofas have been replaced. If we were to reshoot the clip would look out of place and ruin continuety. We did, however, fill the other two points.
